I did enjoy it. Unfortunately, those weeds turned out to be poison ivy. Got a bad rash that covered about 60 percent of my body and lasted for two weeks. But, on the upside, I got two more essays out of it. Stay tuned!
When I got it severe swelling and itching dominated the poison ivy/oak experience. My aunt- legal guardian at the time- painted on a bunch of calamine lotion. Yeah, it sucks glad you got over it.
With family arriving today for the weekend, I was downright dirty last night. All the yard work: mowing, watering, and weeding awaited me. It felt so good to take that well-deserved shower before a late dinner. All is lovely now and ready for fun. Nothing like gardening to work through whatever weighs you down. I enjoyed this, Polly!
My maternal grandmother was an avid gardener, and she had a real "green thumb." She could grow anything. Unfortunately, I didn't inherit her talent for growing things. But, reading your story, I can understand why she enjoyed it so much.
I actually just checked my settings and next to your Substack the word Recommended appears with a check mark next to it so it seems that I have already recommended you. I am glad I did even though I don't know how I did it!
It was tough. Calamine lotion didn't make a dent in my rash. I had to get a prescription cream. And even that took two days to start working!

Nice piece. You have inspired me to weed later today.
Thank you for recommending my Susbstack! I got a notification earlier. I am not quite sure how recommendations work but I appreciate it!
it’s my pleasure, Polly! (I’m not sure how they work, either, but…)
If I can figure it out, I am glad to reciprocate!
Sorry, I didn’t mean it that way. I just meant how Substack works in general is a mystery to me, too. But I plod on.
