I don't know how we reconcile our apparent desire to be green and sustainable with our consumer culture and all of the waste it entails. I am so skeptical, or even cynical, about our environmental proclamations etc. It's hard for me not to laugh at our stupidity.
I don't get big, huge catalogs like yours, but I get all kinds of catalogs from plus size clothing distributors. In the past, I have tried to get them to stop sending these because I ALWAYS order online, but they keep sending them anyway. They go into the recycling without my even looking through them.
I agree on the catalogue overdose in my home as well….too much waste, I don’t request them, and they go into the recycle bin immediately…tried to stop them, couldn’t find the best way to do that, called a couple customer service lines, decided that would be a big time suck. So here I am writing about catalogues, and again wondering how to create my own action plan to minimize them coming into my house!
When that catalog arrives in my mail, I am stunned to think of the cost to mail it, never mind the wretched excess of paper and ink required to publish each one. That being said, it is a work of art. Funny how the smallest things can become prompts!

On the other hand, if minimizing catalog excess is the day's biggest challenge, what a blessing!
Agreed!
