I keep a tab open on my browser for my old email address so I can see when I have an email, and I have also activated mail forwarding etc. I will consider downloading and then drag and dropping. But there are So. Many. Files. Maybe I will get around to that some day. In the meantime, I have made a tenable peace with the situation.
Even if they don't accept Substack published material, I have about 40 more essays in draft form that might be a fit for Huff Post. Thank you again for the idea!
Hey Polly. I would just keep the old email address around and stay logged in. Use a new browser, e.g. Edge or Firefox or Google (or Safari if you're on Mac), and use that browser just for your old Gmail. Meanwhile, have your new Gmail account open on your browser of choice. That way you can access both email accounts as and when you like. As for Google images and other files, I think you can download Google Drive for both your old and new account, to have local (PC-saved, not just cloud-saved) copies of your pics for both accounts. If I'm right and it's possible to have two instances of Google Drive, one for each Gmail account, it'd be possible to drag and drop images from one account to the other. Oh, and 1 last thing - either set up an autoresponse on your old account saying "I've stopped using this email address - please use this one instead: xxx@gmail.com.", or set up a forward of all emails sent to your old account to come to your new one. The latter option seems preferable if you want to avoid sharing your new addy too widely. Enjoy it while it's fresh!
Worth the effort … but seems like an ever ending “pop up” to get it all current..fun piece though! Polly and the red pharmacy chair..
I have now made a tenable peace with the situation and embrace it as an adventure.

I have no idea but I will check it out. Thank you for the idea!
Yes, it is. But I try to have a spirit of adventure about it. Where will I see my former name next?!
Welp. I don’t think I’m ever going to get married
Marriage is not the problem. Changing my name was the problem.
I see
I don't have any advice, just sympathy.

Wow. What an ordeal. This could be a HuffPost story maybe? If they accept Substack-published material?
Sounds like a real pain.
